Scottish Covenant

The Scottish Covenant was a petition drive in the 20th century aimed at securing a home rule for Scotland. Initiated in the late 1940s, it gathered over two million signatures from people across Scotland in support of a Scottish assembly with devolved powers. Though the immediate post-war governments did not act on the demands of the Covenant, it set the stage for discussions on Scottish devolution that would eventually lead to the establishment of the Scottish Parliament in 1999. The Covenant represents a significant chapter in Scotland's political and cultural journey towards greater self-determination.
