Malcolm III

Malcolm III, known as Máel Coluim mac Donnchada or Malcolm Canmore, reigned as King of Scotland from 1058 to 1093 CE, succeeding Lulach. Ascending to the throne after avenging his father's death by overthrowing Macbeth and Lulach, Malcolm's reign was transformative, marking a shift towards Norman-style governance and closer ties with England. He undertook several campaigns into Northumbria and played a pivotal role during the Norman Conquest's aftermath. Married to the future Saint Margaret of Scotland, their union brought religious reforms and strengthened ties with the English royalty. Malcolm III's death in the Battle of Alnwick in 1093 brought an end to a reign that significantly influenced Scotland's political and cultural landscape.
