Kings of the Picts
The Kings of the Picts were ancient rulers of the kingdom of Pictland, which existed from the Late Iron Age to the Early Middle Ages in what is now modern-day Scotland. Pictish society, characterized by its distinct art and mysterious symbols, was one of several Celtic kingdoms in the British Isles. Over time, the Picts played a significant role in resisting Roman and subsequent invasions. By the 9th century, under King Kenneth MacAlpin, the Picts and the neighboring Scots of Dalriada unified, leading to the formation of the Kingdom of Alba, a precursor to modern Scotland. The exact nature and extent of Pictish culture, language, and influence remain subjects of interest and research.
