University of Aberdeen

Initially, King's College was established in 1495 and Marischal College in 1593; they merged in 1860 to form the University of Aberdeen.

The University of Aberdeen, located in Aberdeen, was founded in 1495 by William Elphinstone, the then Bishop of Aberdeen, under the authorization of a Papal Bull from Pope Alexander VI. Established as Scotland's third university, it aimed to produce educated clergy and reduce the need for Scots to study abroad. Over its long-standing history, the University of Aberdeen has become a center for academic excellence, known for its pioneering research, diverse study programs, and contributions to various disciplines. Today, it stands as one of the UK's most internationally distinguished universities, attracting scholars from around the world.
