Treaty of Perth

The Treaty of Perth, concluded in 1266 between King Alexander III of Scotland and King Magnus VI of Norway, resolved the Norwegian-Scottish conflict over the Hebrides and the Isle of Man. Under the treaty's terms, Norway ceded the Hebrides and the Isle of Man to Scotland in exchange for a monetary payment, while also maintaining and affirming its sovereignty over the Orkney and Shetland islands. This accord solidified regional boundaries and marked a significant shift in territorial control in the British Isles, with Norse influence waning in some areas but remaining strong in others.
