Sir William Wallace

Sir William Wallace (c. 1270 – 1305) was a Scottish knight and national hero renowned for leading a resistance against the English occupation during the Wars of Scottish Independence. Displaying remarkable military strategy and an unyielding spirit, Wallace won a significant victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297. His efforts to secure Scotland's freedom were, however, thwarted following the Battle of Falkirk in 1298. Betrayed and captured by the English in 1305, Wallace was brutally executed, but his legacy of defiance and passion for Scottish independence endured, inspiring future generations and contributing to Scotland's eventual autonomy.
