Robert the Bruce

Robert I, commonly known as Robert the Bruce (1274-1329), was King of Scots from 1306 to 1329. A central figure in the Wars of Scottish Independence, he initially faced significant challenges to his rule but achieved a momentous victory against the English at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314. This triumph bolstered his reign and significantly advanced Scotland's fight for independence. Under his leadership, Scotland's autonomy was further solidified with the 1320 Declaration of Arbroath, asserting the nation's sovereign right. Robert the Bruce remains a revered Scottish hero and a symbol of the nation's enduring spirit.
