Clan Mackay-Clan Gunn feud

The feud between Clan Mackay and Clan Gunn, two powerful clans of the Scottish Highlands, traces its origins to the 15th century, primarily driven by territorial ambitions and vendettas. A notorious event that intensified their animosity was the 1438 "Battle of Tuiteam Tarbhach," where the Mackays ambushed and defeated the Gunns. Subsequent skirmishes and treacherous acts, including the infamous massacre of the Gunns at the Chapel of St. Tears in 1517, further deepened the blood feud. Both clans sought allies among neighboring clans, weaving their dispute into the larger fabric of Highland clan warfare. While the animosity spanned several centuries, the two clans eventually put aside their differences and integrated more harmoniously into the changing Scottish landscape.
