1464 - 1478

Clan Gunn-Clan Keith feud

From 1464 to 1478, the feud between Clan Gunn and Clan Keith became one of the most notorious in Scottish clan history. Sparked by territorial disputes and personal vendettas in the Northern Highlands, the animosity peaked with the infamous Chapel of St. Tears incident in 1464. Clan Keith ambushed and massacred members of Clan Gunn, who were attending a service, cementing a deep-seated enmity between the clans. Subsequent years witnessed a series of violent confrontations, reprisals, and escalations, with both clans suffering significant casualties. By 1478, attempts to mediate and quell the violence began to take hold, but the scars of this decade-long conflict left an enduring mark on the legacy of both clans.
