Last Glacial Maximum
The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), when ice sheets were at their most extensive coverage, peaked around 21,000 to 18,000 years ago. During the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM), the majority of Scotland was covered by ice. The ice sheets were extensive and thick, blanketing much of the country.
