Battle of Stracathro

Óengus of Moray led a significant rebellion in 1130 against the Scottish king, David I. Óengus, who was possibly a claimant to the Scottish throne due to his royal lineage, sought to challenge David I's authority in the north. The conflict between the two culminated in the Battle of Stracathro, where Óengus's forces were decisively defeated. Óengus himself was killed in the battle, consolidating David I's rule over Scotland and ensuring the dominance of the Canmore dynasty. This event was crucial in solidifying the centralized authority of the Scottish monarchy over its peripheral regions.
