The Battle of Pinkie Cleugh, fought on September 10, 1547, was a significant confrontation during the Rough Wooing, a series of conflicts between Scotland and England. Taking place near Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland, it saw the English forces led by the Duke of Somerset decisively defeat the Scots under James Hamilton, 2nd Earl of Arran. Leveraging advanced tactics and superior artillery, the English achieved a significant victory, resulting in considerable Scottish casualties. Despite the triumph, England's goal of forging a marital alliance between Edward VI and Mary, Queen of Scots, remained unfulfilled.
