Battle of Mulroy

The Battle of Mulroy, fought in 1688, was the last significant clan battle in Scottish history. The conflict arose from a dispute between the Clan Mackintosh and Clan MacDonald of Keppoch over land ownership in the Scottish Highlands. The MacDonalds, allied with the Camerons and led by Coll MacDonald of Keppoch, faced off against the government-backed forces of Clan Mackintosh, led by Captain Kenneth Mackenzie. Using the traditional Highland charge, the MacDonalds and their allies swiftly defeated the Mackintoshes. The battle is historically notable not only for marking the end of large-scale clan warfare but also for exemplifying the complexities of land rights and political alliances in the Highlands during this era.
