Battle of Inverlochy

The Battle of Inverlochy, fought on 2 February 1645, was a pivotal confrontation during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms in Scotland. James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose, leading the Royalist forces, executed a rapid and arduous march through the Scottish Highlands to surprise the Covenanter army stationed at Inverlochy. Despite being heavily outnumbered, Montrose's Royalists decisively defeated the Covenanters under the command of Archibald Campbell, 1st Marquis of Argyll. The battle showcased Montrose's military prowess and highlighted the effectiveness of his Highland and Irish troops, solidifying his reputation as one of the most formidable Royalist commanders of the era.
