Battle of Fyvie
The Battle of Fyvie, fought in 1644 during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms, was a confrontation between Royalist and Covenanter forces near Fyvie Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The Royalist forces, commanded by James Graham, 1st Marquis of Montrose, and supported by Irish troops led by Alasdair MacColla, sought to expand their influence in Scotland. However, they met resistance from the Covenanter forces stationed at Fyvie Castle. Despite several attempts by the Royalists to capture the castle, they were repelled by the determined Covenanters. Although the battle did not yield a clear victor, it halted Montrose's momentum in his campaign to restore Charles I's authority in Scotland.
