Battle of Dupplin Moor
The Battle of Dupplin Moor, fought on August 12, 1332, was a pivotal confrontation during the early phase of the Second War of Scottish Independence. English forces, led by Edward Balliol and the "Disinherited", a group of Scottish nobles who had lost their lands, clashed with the Scots under the regency of Donald, Earl of Mar, in defense of the young King David II of Scotland. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the English achieved a decisive victory due to their superior tactics and the disarray of the Scottish forces. The aftermath of the battle saw Edward Balliol crowned as King of Scotland, although his reign was short-lived and marked by further conflict.
