Abdication of John Balliol

John Balliol, the King of Scots, abdicated the throne on July 10, 1296. His reign was characterized by conflict and tension with Edward I of England, and he abdicated the throne after military defeats and under considerable pressure from Edward I. After his abdication, Scotland experienced a period of interregnum until the accession of Robert the Bruce in 1306.
